The place for all INDYCAR fans

I was just watching the video on the home page, and wondering, Is it just me, or is "I am Indy" lame? I think the slogan is boring, and the song is even worse. Did they get Gary Glitter to sing that? It does nothing for me.

I am not a NASCAR fan at all, but have to give them credit for some of their commercials, especially the one that used "Ring of Fire".

My kids like it...especially the spanish version LOL :) I think it has a fun beat..but thats about it...the video will definately need to be updated since Sam and Dario are no longer there... not sure what if anything that Gene Simmons is going to do w/ the IRL this year....
Whoa, where can you find the Spanish version? It sounds enticing :D
I definitely think the video should be updated to remove the drivers who are no longer with the series --- when it does, you can trust that we'll have it front and center!
no ur right I am Indy is a horrible slogan... really makes no sense at all, though kudos for trying to be young and hip.... just need something thats actually good.
Yea I have to agree!!
I will go ahead and address the I Am Indy song. The fact that Gene is really trying to stick to his guns and make it a "KISS" sounding tune makes it OK with me. Is it a "Strutter" or "Love Gun"? Of course not. But he's trying. Looking forward to the new stuff this year! Any thoughts on what they should do??
I like the song I am Indy and even have it as the ring tone on my cell phone.
Personally, I don't like the song or the slogan. However, it really doesn't matter what the IRL has for a song and slogan if the only place they advertise it is on ABC / ESPN during the IRL race. From my vantage point it would be much smarter to have a catchy song with cool graphics (you don't even need a slogan) and run it in an ad during a non IRL broadcast. That's how you broaden your fan base...not by advertising it to people already watching your product. But being familiar with TV contracts and ad buys my guess is they need to find sponsors to fill x number of slots during a broadcast. The spaces are not cheap and if they don't sell them all, they are probably stuck with the spots themselves.
Regardless of whether you like or dislike I Am Indy, I think that it doesn't matter in and of itself. What IndyCar needs more than anything else is to end "The Split," continue to offer exciting races with lots of passing, show off the drivers' personalities, focus on bringing in and keeping American drivers and sponsors, and take a more active stance in getting a fair amount of coverage on SportsCenter. All of this other stuff doesn't mean squat if the American public is confused about the series and can't latch on to some drivers that they can identify with.

As for I Am Indy itself...it was supposed to help attract the "younger crowd." Uhh, hello! Despite its longevity, KISS is a 1970's band. Not only was this a dumb angle, but it was one of the most irritating promotional songs since "I want my baby back, baby back, baby back ribs."
Couldn't hurt to start exploiting Helio's new found fame. Now that he is a household name and face, might get a few people to tune in. Same with Danica.
Maybe KK will be forced to possession of the song as part of the deal!
I think the slogan could be worse, but it definitely doesn't work. Does anybody have any suggestions? I can't think of a thing...What about "The Motorsports Melting Pot" you know, because we have drivers from a bunch of different countries, not to mention series...Yeah that's kind of a sucky slogan too...I officially fire myself from trying to be creative..
