Chaps,

It does seem Viso is getting killed over the incident at The Glen over on Talk Back.

It did seem to me like a very stupid mistake but hardly deliberate.

This kid is agressive and talented and reminds me a bit of Mr. Zanardi, he's not there yet, but, it does seem that he has been public enemy number one since Danica whinged about him in Kansas.

Viso still has some learning to do. It shocked me to see him come out as wide as he did and take Meira out. Meira has definitely had his share of tough luck this season.
I agree, but it has been treated by some as a deliberate act, which is insane, but seems to fit in with the idea that he is an unhinged jackass.
Meira has had a string of bad luck. I agree though, I think Viso will be a solid driver. He's another young gun in the series right now that I'd like to see stick around.
I'm going to modify your wording a bit and say that Viso COULD be a solid driver, but he isn't yet. Right now he has a lot of talent, and a lot of aggression, but he needs to learn control! He's overly aggressive and hasn't yet learned what the really great drivers have learned, how to be selectively aggressive! Right now, he's the most dangerous person on the track. If he can learn control and patience, then I agree that he could be a solid driver, and its certainly possible. Briscoe, for example, used to be very similar to Viso, even as recently as the beginning of the season, but he's grown as a driver and now is deservingly among the top drivers in the series.

BTW, I think the frustration that many of the other drivers are feeling isn't just because of the hyper-aggressive driving that's been displayed by Viso and some others, but also because of the league's lack of action to curb this type of behaviour. There needs to be some type of consequence for a careless or overly aggressive move resulting in a collision. There was absolutely no call for all of the collisions at the Richmond and the end of the Watkins Glen races.
Whether deserved or not, Viso now gets to sit out a race. No, it's not a suspension...it's the mumps.

This is really unfortunate. I'm not a big Viso fan, but nor do I wish him any kind of ill health, least of all the mumps. Here's to his quick recovery and return to the track. /lift_glass
