The place for all INDYCAR fans

i thought i'd start a wish list thread, just because it's always interesting to see everyone thoughts on these sorts of things.

if you were assembling a 2 car team in the glory years (1991-1995), which 2 drivers, sponsors, chassis and engine, who and what would you take? remember to keep things PERIOD-CORRECT please.

for me, i'd take jacques villeneuve and gil de ferran in a pair of reynard hondas, with backing from visa and mackenzie financial...

ooo, good question! Let me do some research on chassis and engine packages, but right off the bat, by driver pics would have to be Rick Mears and Helio Castroneves. I think Mears drove a Chevy engine, and of course Helio now drives a Dallara/Honda. ,,,i know, i know, they're both Penske drivers and here i am an AGR fan, but those are my pics anyway.
indeed, but helio isn't from the era. please keep it period correct... ;)
everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that's not really the question i asked. still, i think that period was the height because it was the highest attended, most profitable, and for the teams and team members, the time when they were the best paid and had the steadiest jobs. there was more, and deeper sponsorship, and the overall driving standard was arguably at a peak. it had the highest level of worldwide support as well. the team members could make a good living as indycar crew, the sponsors were eager to be there, the drivers were well paid, and the crowds came everywhere. to me, that's the glory years...
Alright I'll tag in, you know my avatar has my number 1 favorite driver, Central OH's Bobby Rahal, so I'll take his '92 Lola/Chevy. I've got a barlight in my den of that MGD car making a left turn with the #1 on the nose. The Mrs. would like to mention the Reynard/Honda driven by team Ganassi a little later...

Drivers? Little Al in that weird Penske/Ilmor was large and in charge in '94 but give me Bobby and maybe Michael in that era
that penske ilmor was unique, but it was only good for the one race. it was definitely the most impressive 'special' that every showed up at the speedway, but the thing that blows me away is that only 3 years after that, the standard cars were almost as fast...
For me it would be Little Al and Michael in 91-92. Michael in the Newman-Hass Lola-Ford Cosworth and Little Al in the Galles/Kraco racing Lola-Chevy in the Valvoline sponsored car. Still one of the best paint jobs on an Indy Car.
Oh yeah... forgot, That would be the Texaco Havoline car for Michael.
