So, Is It Just Us,? Or Where There A Lot More Empty Seats Sunday, At The Brickyard?, Than Any Other 400?..I could Care Less If Napcar Ever Comes Back!..

That's the way it seemed to me, but I don't really recall what the stands looked like last year. The IMS sure did look sparsely populated for a 'major' race.

Looked bare to me also. I would have guessed a major change in attendance would have been next year, after all the fans probably felt taken after watching pitting every lap (or so it felt like). I hate to see a race struggle like that at IMS, but then again, if they aren't bringing in the fans I could see a change. The biggest issue for me is IMS, the greatest track in racing, should not have problems bringing in fans for Nascar.If the Brickyard 400 turns into another race, I would like for them to keep their slow cars off the track.

i was shocked by the mass of empty seats. perhaps this is another effect of unification. people going to the indy 500 instead of the nasfarce (was called nascrap but nasfarce is better after sunday). or perhaps high gas prices.

Empty seats are not a new scene for napcar... As a 10yr resident south of the Mason-Dixon line but a Buckeye at heart (and attendee of M-O last week!) I've watched their Memorial Day weekend night race from Charlotte on TV several times and noted that the stands in one of their 'crown jewel' races has lots of invisible fans sitting in the bleachers.

I don't think that IMS is 'sacred ground' that should be available to only IndyCars, I'm a sometime fan of both F1 and MotoGP and like the idea of that fan base having access to watching those kinds of drivers/riders.

you know perhaps nascar has peaked and is on the down turn? ims shouldn't be sacred ground and if you look at the history originaly there were stock car races and motorbike races. i would love to see f1 come back.
