Good article today in the Indystar that says car count could possibly reach 40... that would be huge for bump day and the month of may. Link is below

I expect that we'll have a full field of 33, but if there are 40 on the entry list, I'll be stunned. I like Barnhart's number of about 35 better. I think Mr. Cavin is reaching with a speculation of it would take to get 40. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be wrong and totally stunned, but I just don't see 40 happening.
X,
I think youre correct with 40 being to much, I to think that 40 is a reach, and would be stunned. I remember last year on Bump day, having two cars in line to try to qualify when Mario Domniquez crashed in turn 2. Three cars went home, which actually is alot compared to the last 5 years or so. I would like to see the drama of bump return because its exciting the last hour to watch teams scramble for speedway and to see what will hold.
I don't know if I could keep track of 40 cars while I'm watching!
I only hope better things are to come because of unification. It truly has brought a new level of interest into the sport and even brought some of the "Stars" back into the back. Now if we only could only develop some of the home grown talent, it would be even better. I will be very curious to see what crowds are like around the Month of May. Back in the “Glory days” of the 1970s, attendance was 150,000 for pole day and it was packed throughout the month. I know we will never get back to 150,000 but it would be great to see more interest in the two weekends prior to Race Weekend.
