The place for all INDYCAR fans

I wanted Danica to win the race and Dario to win the championship. I got half my wish. Considering all the vicissitudes of the season, with Danica getting taken out by both rookies (Matos and Conway) and veterans (Wheldon), I'm happy that Danica held on to 5th place, the best finish for an American driver since Sam Hornish won the championship (as far as I know). I hope Michael can figure out how to get better cars under his drivers for next year or it is going to be red teams redux in 2010 and very boring.

Robin Miller put an interesting "spin" on what I thought was a very non-compelling race--at least until the last couple of laps--Robin said "there will be more road/street racing next year with fewer ovals for the "red devils" to dominate. After terrific Kentucky and Chicagoland oval events, Homestead was absolultely awful and an embarrassment to the sport. After thirty eight years of loving indy car racing, I admit I was totally disgusted with the show. Its no wonder the sisters want to get out from under the burden of the Indy Racing League. And Jim, I'm positive Danica has a very bright future--was nice to hear Dario give her such glowing compliments on Wind Tunnel last night--he said she is more than capable of succeeding in NASCAR given some time and good training.
Yes, it was a snoozer. It did point up in a very declamatory way the utter dominance of the red teams (Helio excepted yesterday). The fact that Dario, Dixon and Briscoe lapped EVERYONE at least once tells the tale. They have figured out how to set up their cars like no other team, period. DP and TK were the "best of the rest", till she got taken out by Wheldon.
Sorry to disagree with you, I still say the race was awful (until the final couple of Dario laps) and an embarrasment to the league. Back seat driver, did you buy a ticket for the Homestead event? I would hate to have to try and sell tickets to any racing event where all but three cars were lapped before the half way signal. Even in the 80's when Pat Patrick and Roger Penske were always battling for the win, the rest of the field was within striking distance of a victory. I honestly felt Roger and Chip could have found a drag strip somewhere and had a shootout race with their drivers--why bother with the entire Homestead show. I'm glad I stayed home for the Homestead event--was alot cheaper to watch Ashley Judd on TV.
I have no criticism of Penske or Ganassi. They have excelled, set a standard and others must measure up; that is the American way.I just want to see Andretti get his $hit together and get Danica a car good enough to compete with the red devils and I'm sure other people cheering for other teams/drivers would like to see their people be able to challenge. The league has done everything it can do to level every aspect of racing and must reap the whirlwind. I am old enough to remember when racing was wide open, both open wheel and stock cars . What passes for racing today is really kind of pathetic, not unlike the culture at large and were it not for the raven-haired pit bull with lipstick in the #7 car, I would not digress from beating on my rocks, primitive atavist that I am.
Was Gordon (Gordy) Johncock a Ganassi driver? Personally, I would like to see Helio retire and give Will Power the opportuity to show us his stuff. Unless there is a three car effort being planned, I wonder just where and how we will be able to see Will's talents. I already fear Ryan Hunter Reay may be Sports Car bound and I would hate to see Indy racing lose J. R. Hildebrand's talents. And I just hate seeing great drivers become field fillers. Seems as though all but three or four drivers are becoming field fillers lately. Sad state of affairs.
