The place for all INDYCAR fans

I'm curious where everyone thinks Dan will rate among the legends of Indy? I know that when someone dies tragically, the first thing people always do is say how great they were.

But in my opinion he should have been on the list of the greatest 33, and I think He might even make the top 20. What do you think?

He's on my list of greatest 33 now, as a two-time winner, and especially winning with a one-off team this year.  Winning for Penske is one thing, and Danny Sullivan is not on my list.  Winning for Doug Shierson, as Luyendyk did, is another (nothing against Shierson, but it wasn't one of the MEGA-teams), and Luyendyk is on it.  As for where Wheldon ranks, I will have to wait awhile to put it all together, and look at things with an objective 'cool and calm'.

If you take a look at his stats, they are better than Dario's and Dixon's (who were both named to the top 33).

He had 2 wins, 2 seconds, and he led the most laps in 2 others.

Also, some drivers were named, because they were great drivers but not necessarily at Indy. Dan Gurney comes to mind, one of the best in racing history, just wasn't steller at Indy.
