The place for all INDYCAR fans

Today is the day--3 p.m.--all eyes will be focused on this 100 pound racing talent.  My local paper's sport section talked about Juan Pablo Montoya approaching Danica to offer any assistance she might want--he told her it would be difficult, but one day it will "click."  but it won't be overnight.  And he told her he would be available for assistance whenever she wanted it.  Nice gesture from Juan Pablo--who I predict will win the NASCAR Championship this year.  And I certainly hope the Indy series realizes all those NASCAR eyes will be curious to see how she races in her Indy car--AND THAT PUTS BUTTS IN THE SEATS--sure hope the new CEO, Randy Bernard realizes just what an asset Danica is.

Well, Mr. H., what did you think? I found Darrell Waltrip's last remarks interesting--"I think she should race next week." Meaning the Nationwide event. I have to give her credit--she followed her instructions fo a tee amidst some very "quirky" racers. My hat is off to her--and from her remarks and how she looked, Danica had fun out there--She did herself proud--what more can you ask for! I've got to give NASCAR credit--a ticket today was a great value--qualifying, ARCA, and Bud Shootout--quite a race card!
I watched her with my veteran, hardcore NASCAR fan neighbors, who are dear friends but really didn't know that much about Danica. By the end of the race, my friend Syl was yelling at the TV, telling Danica who to draft and what line to run .LOL...Danica won over another fan. My friends agreed that Danica drove one helluva race for a "rookie". As I have said since I first became a Danica fan. "It's the size of fight in the dog; not the size of the dog in the fight". She learned a lot today and she has a lot to learn but I'd love to see her running well in both leagues and to hell with what the naysayers have to pontificate. She is not just a pretty face, not when she gets in the driver's seat. Coming from 24th to 5th and ultimately finishing 6th, because she was still pushing to see just what the hell she could do, was fantastic.I'm proud of the girl! She done good.
Mr. H, and others: Please read a Jim Pedley column--google it--excellent remarks regarding Danica's ARCA event--I do wish they would have left her running ARCA this year--like Scott Speed--the BIG BOYS are going to be rough on her. and trust me, I'm a huge Danica fan--I just want to see her succeed--bet this will be the most watched Nationwide event in years!
I just posted a variation of this comment on GoDanica7:
When she straps into a Honda Dallara or a NASCAR Impala and goes at speeds near or over 200 MPH, there is ALWAYS risk. Danica has never shied away from risk. She is deliberate, resolute, daring and courageous. She has made mistakes in the past, crashed and learned from them. She is growing and maturing constantly, which is laudable and admirable. Neither she nor we should worry about what the press says about her.The press is going to say whatever it is going to say, regardless. Until she is a consistent winner or podium sitter in one or both leagues, they will take their smarmy, snotty swipes at her. The great thing about her mien and moxie is that she just plows ahead, pursuing her own agenda.Being a trail blazer means there are sometimes no obvious signposts indicating a safe path. She knows what she is doing and everyone in the JR camp thinks she is ready and will benefit from the seat time.
According to an article at speedtv.com, the ARCA race saw an 87 percent increase in viewership over last year--and the Speed TV network was astounded and obviously pleased with the numbers. Take a look at the article at Speed tV--indy car.
Remember--Danica tonight, Feb. 10 on CSI--
Nationwide qualifying today, Friday, Feb. 12 noon midwest time--I'm betting we will see a great starting position. It is on ESPN2 according to my sports page.
Race is done--will the hype let up? NO iT is on to California and I bet they will use Danica to fill those normally empty Fontana seats--I'm convinced the NASCAR male drivers are looking forward to May when Danica disappears for a while. I thought she did a very nice job for her first attempt--I bet that drafting deal has her alittle frazzeled but she will figure it out. I love her being humble--admitting she has alot to learn. I just don't want NASCAR to change Danica--she has always been just fine the way she is--intense, sober, focused. And I hope the Indy Car fans welcome her back to "their" series with thunderous applause and attention!
Janet Guthrie, Shirley Muldowney, Michelle Mouton, Ellen Lohr, Jutta Kleinschmidt, Sabine Schmidt, Cathy Muller, Louise Aitken Walker, Lella Lombardi, Desire Wilson, Lynn St James, Sarah Fisher and many others would beg to differ about her being a trail blazer.

Go and read about the history of the sport and stop believing what ESPN and NASCAR tell you.
But, I would call her a unique, modern era trail blazer since I now realize most fans haven't followed racing, or NASCAR, for very long. And I didn't need ESPN, NASCAR, National Speed Sport News, AutoSport, etc. etc. etc. to tell me that. And I hope her star stays very bright for a long time to come--women really enjoy motorsports but we like to cheer for our gender too; and she certainly brings women and young kids into the sport--hope karting benefits from the influx of interest in Danica--and Jamie McMurray too, for that matter--80% of his karting career was on an American Margay kart out of St. Louis--he is on a CRG now--European import. Danica drove an east coast American Coyote in her youth and moved to the European kart, Tony. Everyone can drive a kart--until you are 70 years old. Terrific sport. While spending a few years abroad, Danica is certainly an all-American girl; and I hope she has an even better race in California this weekend.
