Ed Carpenter is said he is likely to run a second part time car for James Davidson.

Of the five teams, ECR is rumored to be Chevy, Coyne is rumored to be honda, SFHR is believed to have a contract in place but hasn't announced. I would say the two more uncertain programs at this time would be Conquest and Dragon.

I don't think Conquest is to concerned about indycar this year, outside of the 500. They have a good deal going in ALMS for this year, Being an OAK chassis supplier. They might just run part time, then come back next year.

Pantano was making noises that he was looking at D&R or Ganassi.  Anyone have a line on the ganassi name drop?

from google translate:

Marsh hopes to D & R and Ganassi

Giorgio Pantano is on hold. The pilot Padua, after three races with Dreyer & Reinbold IndyCar 2011, hopes to be at the start of the 2012 season with the team that allowed him to do well in the disputed road stages. For Autosprint, Pantano said: "By the end of January will I know if I'll be at the start of the season. Dreyer & Reinbold team is working to offer the steering wheel without the support of sponsors, but must fill the gap of the last million dollars of budget season . If I can not be full-time on the track, Ganassi asked me to tie his team in the role of third driver. "

Why would Ganassi need a test driver?

Ganassi already has a third (and fourth) driver, no?

The F1 guys often refer to a test driver position as the "third driver".  You actually have to bring money to get it, though there is so little testing it is now virtually meaningless.

PT seems to have a signed deal.  I would assume we find out what for shortly.

Just heard the same. Maybe announcement Thursday?

I'm told Pippa Mann seems very confident about things, but is adamantly not showing her hand. Speculation seems to be centered on HVM and Rahal-Letterman, but who knows....

Kasey Kahne as an Indy 500 one-off? Wow, where did that come from?

Really want to see who ends up with that fourth AA seat.

While Kahne is not a likely candidate for a Indy 500 one-off, with Chevy back in INDYCAR , It wouldn't surprise me to see a few NASCAR drivers come over and attempt the 500. Kahne has always had an interest in the Indy 500 and test with Rahal back in the early 2000's. Just a hunch that he would always have an ear open if right situation came along.

Bring it! I'd love to see some NASCAR boys in the mix.
