The place for all INDYCAR fans

I've been reading alot of rumors recently about the Speedway being up for sale--I was assured last night that Marie Hulman George, who is the sole owner of the property, has no intention of selling her Speedway. She has 4 grandchildren working there; and she realizes the importance the Speedway has to their futures. I found this terrific news--now the league--that is another story. I personally think you could offer them a crisp $l00.00 bill and they might accept your offer. And a certain friend of mine never quits speculating about NASCAR buying the league--might not be a bad idea for everyone concerned.

Selling out to nascrap would be the worst and dumbest thing anyone could do. How long do you think it would be before the IRL would be dismantled and gone. Not long. Why do you think the IRL doesn't race at certain tracks any more. It's because of nascrap. You really need to stop listening to your friend when it comes to that subject.
If there are not fundamental changes in the way the IRL is run, Mari may not need to sell the IRL. It will collapse and die on it's own accord. If the rumors I'm hearing are true the new regulations for 2012-2020 will be exactly more of what we have now.
Totally agree with you about the possibility of the league collapsing. Certainlly is not a money maker and I seriously wonder if anyone--other than NASCAR--can make it a financial "winner."
While I am certainly concerned about the future of the IRL, I also am starting to wonder about NASCAR. If you have started to listen and read some of the NASCAR rumors and actual news, things aren't in the best of shape for NASCAR. The Truck Series? The start and park teams? The COT now in Nationwide? T.V Ratings down in almost every Sprint cup race? Teams being reduced and merging?

I am not saying the IRL doesn't have its own problems, I would love to compare NASCAR and the IRL in four years. My predication is that NASCAR comes back down to earth and the IRL gets back to where open wheel racing was pre-split. We have seen the golden years of NASCAR in terms of growth and domination.
