I understand that Comcast/NBCUniversal wants to increase traditional ratings.  However, I feel this move is very selfish and bad for the series.  IndyCar needs all of the exposure it can get despite all of the recent good press and general momentum it seems to have.  IMO, the gains made by Versus will be negligible.  Meanwhile, people without Versus (which includes all potential fans outside of the United States of America) will either lose interest or go to, shall we say, "alternative means" through which to watch the events.  The latter seems especially ridiculous to me as Versus could actually count those watching online and send them targeted ads...not to mention that they are pulling a NASCAR-like move in trying to ignore new media and especially how the younger generations like to have their content where and when they ant it and not be tied to a TV screen.

Are they just not going to stream the actual race?  How about the warmups and qualifying?
Nothing.  Zero.  Zilch.  Zip.  Nada.  Not a friggin' thing.
Can get live timing and scoring now.  No video or audio.  Just sent an email to Randy expressing my feelings.  I can see not streaming live reace, but warm-ups and qualifying?

Of course, not being an insider, I cannot say for sure but I have a feeling that Randy had absolutely nothing to do with this and it's strictly a Comcast/NBCUniversal decision.  E-mails and telephone calls of discontent should be sent here:

I think you're right about this. Who knows, maybe it's not what RB would have wanted in a perfect world, but maybe had to go along with as part of the deal. But I do understand how people are upset about it.
Randy you Dork !!! Im not paying $35 bucks so I can watch livestreams of practice that I use to watch for free.. Im P.O. at Indycar.com
