Robin Miller is reporting that Newman-Haas-Lanigan is signing Milka Duno, and Robert Doornbos. Doorbos is no surprise, but Milka???

I thought I'd seen everything...

no way. has the earth fallen of its axis? is this the end of days? then I hope and pray this news is wrong.
Milka has the money so the team can afford Doornbos.
Great news, hopefully more sponsers can see that Indy Car rides are possible. If Milka and Doornbos can secure rides, then we should take that as a sign that RHR can secure a ride, Paul Tracy? Justin wilson? Alex Loyld? Jay Howard? Good drivers still out there
Duno is dangerous in any car on any team, As Charo, the moving chicane, she is the designated replacement for Marty Roth, except that poor old Marty was almost never as dangerous as Hugo's thumb in the eye of ICS racing.
Paul Newman must be rolling around in his grave. Sorry if it's too early for such a thing to have said. I would bet the house on her being dumped mid or half way through the season. A menace like her who has no skills whatsoever doesn't belong on a top-tier team much like NHL. I'm happy for Doornbos as he's very likeable and usually a smooth racer. Speaking of smooth racers I see Will Power or Briscoe winning the Indy 500 if Helio isn't returning.
I think it is really sad that drivers with talent are setting on the sidelines while others are racing and wrecking with no business being on the track at all.
The only reason she can compete for anyone let alone Newman-Haas-Lannigan is that she showed them the sponsorship money they needed. Secondly, it's no secret that the car count right now is very low. They may have an 18 car field rather than the 24-28 last year.

Right now I'm aware of 15 confirmed drivers. If they could park Marty Roth than why not her for crying out loud? Danica must be pissed that this menace got a better gig! Like I said expect her to be parked by the team very soon after the season opener. It doesn't matter a darn if you are talented or not. Tracy et all didn't have the money to secure their seat. She did. Anyone who thinks it was her talent or driving is delusional ;)
Who did Justin Wilson have to piss off to not be brought back for 2009 at NHL over Milka Duno? ;) He deserves the seat but I hope he has better plans lined up. Awful decision making by this team.
Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Seabass, Milka Duno--somehow doesn't fit in that exclusive fraternity of outstanding drivers. Wonder what Paul Newman is thinking right now?
I used to have respect for this team but don't unless they surprise us all and turn Milka into a decent driver. I was doing the whole Sesame Street song "one of these things is not like the other." all day. Doornbos, Rahal both belong in the same sentence with the acronym NHL she just doesn't. When Curt Calvin mentioned Milka being considered for NHL in a third car I thought he was being sarcastic.
I'm happy for Milka, She greatly improved herself! She was always a rolling road block in the past seasons but with a better car and supporting cast around her I am expecting better things from her. She is dogged on all the time, for being slow. Last years indy 500 I was rather impressed by her run. She drove a great race untill she was pinched in turn 3 by Buddy Laizier. All and all good for Milka, I will be pulling for her this season.
I agree totally KJ, I think Milka could be the surprise story of the 2009 Season. I also think Milka could wreck in turn 1 of the first lap of the first race she competes in.

One thing I do know is that Milka is great for the fans and series because of her generosity and kindness. I know that doesn't win races, but it goes along way with making money for the IRL and promoting good citizenship among its drivers. Would Milka be in the news as much as Helio if she was charged with tax evasion?

Probably not, but what she doesn't get enough credit for is her efforts with children books and out going community service. HOPEFULLY Milka can improve her performance on the track so that we can mix in all the good things about her that don't get mentioned enough.
