This is the first IZOD Indycar series win by an American driver in 28 races, and that American was Ryan Hunter-Raey at Watkins Glen in 08'.

It's hard to win as an American driver when the field is stacked against you. When you're one of two or three Americans out there and the rest of the field is anything but American, that's not very good odds for an American win. Especially when their usually not in one of the better cars.
