Seems like all the F1 rejects are finding a new home. Let's bring him to Vegas and see what kind of game he has left.

Nothing official yet, butin my opinion it's looking really good that there may be a deal done with KV. At least people are sure pushing for it in appears, apparently Bernard included.
Permalink Reply by xorpheous on February 2, 2012 at 1:23pm I don't know that I'd call a driver who has more Formula 1 grand prix starts than ANY driver in history, 10 wins, and repeatedly near the top in championship points a 'reject'. Rubinho has serious talent, and he'll be a great asset to KVRT.
Permalink Reply by Paul on February 2, 2012 at 1:30pm Then how come he can't find an F1 ride? He is another Sato. But he will probably fit in well with the new American F1 Indy series. Randy Bernards brainchild. I'm just counting down the days till St. Pete.
Permalink Reply by xorpheous on February 2, 2012 at 11:04pm He can't find a ride because he doesn't bring $$$ like the younger drivers do. Do you honestly think that Maldonado would have a ride if he didn't bring bags of Hugobucks from Venezuela?
@ Xorpheous - Agreed. Considering he has played second fiddle most of his career to his team mates, Rubens has done well.
Judging from attendance, during the 90's AOWR fans didn't have a problem with F1 "has beens" like Fittipaldi, Mansell, and yes, Andretti - not to mention Zanardi (after his first F1 go 'round), and a number of other guys.
Permalink Reply by Gilbert K. Arnold on February 5, 2012 at 10:34am Yeah just look who Rubens played "second fiddle" to from 2000-2005, some unknown guy named Michael Schumacher. I don't think he'll have much trouble with the road/street courses in IndyCar.
Permalink Reply by IndycarAddictus on February 6, 2012 at 7:56am His age works against him in F1. F1does so little testing these days that his development experience is not valued. And as mentioned, he does not "bring the sponsorship" that is now required by even the second tier teams. Rubens has serious credibility around the F1 paddock, europe and brazil that would only be an asset to indycar. He hasn't forgotten how to drive and still has the fire. KV or another team would do well to sign him.
