IndyCar Garage

The place for all INDYCAR fans

today i woke up, i went work, i worked, came home, dug some snow out of my drive, and got a shower. whilst in the shower, my mind was wondering round the various parts of life, my marriage, the weather, how much weight i've put on and then shit! its wednesday, the delta wing is displayed today. so i got out of the shower and turned on my computer and went to indycar garage. (or was i at DC comics website?). what i saw was something that was well out of what i ever thought. now i'm pretty open minded, i don't believe in god, i never push 205 on my dish remote (205 gives you fox news), if i had the vote (i only hold a green card) i would vote democrate and i eat spicy food but what i saw was the batmobile. not a racing car. i'm sorry. chip ganassi and ben bowbly i applaud your vision and idea. but this is too much. if the spilt hadn't of happened, perhaps a indy would look look like a indycar but the thing is. this had closed wheels, a fin on the back (or is it a rudder) and is shapped like dart?? its too much. the first dallara and swift design's are more realistic. i agree the cost has to be reduced and the racing improved. but keep it looking like a indycar please.

If we "keep it looking like an Indycar", we might still be seeing the Marmon Wasp. Evolution is inexorable. Thank God and American ( and some foreign) ingenuity.
Mr. H, I'll bet you $l00 we won't be seeing this car in the indycar series--another series, maybe, But unless it has the name, Dallara on the side, it won't be in this league. And I still think it is one ugly looking car. .
your right cause barnhart loves dallara. it reminds me of something from the 30's that donald campbell would use to break the land speed record at daytona beach. i don't think we'll be seeing a marmon wasp cause there not gonna put the engine in the front again and the the ride height is massive. lets not forget ben bowbly is english. so i think its english ingenuity. plus i don't think god gets versis so he could care less about indycars.
You are too kind, joey, in saying that the delta wing looks like a dart... I think it looks like a human male phallus. :)
I am very open-minded just for the fact that I listen in on, and consider all opinions ... especially those broadcast on FOXNews. That being stated, open-wheel racing is open-wheel racing and one does not need to be open-minded to understand this point-of-order.

The Delta Wing, as shown here at Indy Car Garage and Chicago is NOT an open-wheel design. Further, even if one were to consider this vehicle for racing IRL style, how does one adjust the downforce on the front end to take advantage of changing areodynamics between oval, street, and dedicated road circuits? With enough ingenuity in the design, one can eliminate team engineers at the track - that would be a loss.

Looks like something best suited for a different type of specialized competition. Maybe something like a Winternationals drag strip with a loop-the-loop in the middle of it ... or a Drift-Challenge - cooooooooool!
reminds me of thunderbird 2, i think it gets from the underneath of the car.
Thunderbirds ... or "Team America"!

Just posted a blog and referenced an article but, sorry, as an open-wheel racing platform, I give this a 2 out of 5 stars.
i thought the car might resemble this. a liberal piece of thinking from mr colin chapman. the fia was trying to curb ground affect. so chapman designed this 2 chassis, ground affect tour de force. but it was so much around the walls, they told lotus to piss off and it never raced until it was raced in historic f1.

Curt Cavin had the designer on 1070thefan radio show tonight--interesting discussion. HOWEVER, it is obvious Indy racing will become a spec series--either the Swift, Dallara, Lola or Delta car will constitute the entire field. I'm not sure this is the best way to go--why not two or three different cars on the track--I don't buy the story that no manufacturer would be interested unless they get the "whole pie" and the more I look at the Delta--is this concept truly an "open wheel car?"
its not a open wheel car for sure. its a closed wheel car. barnhart has to go if he thinks this is indy car. manufactures will pour in. he really is a plonker of that there is no doubt.
