V-8 Camry? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! What about a 2-door Ford Fusion? The Grand Am GT class IS actual stock car racing...same with ALMS. The cars aren't stock of course, but they LOOK like cars that you'd see on the road, and they use actual production parts on them.

Yep...that's "The Bandit", back when NASCAR was fun. This past day (Sunday) during the Cup race, I had to fight the urge to throw something at the TV screen because they kept showing that annoying "Digger" and his family instead of the race. I still get kinda excited when it comes to Daytona in February because everything is new again, but it wears off pretty fast...

Sorry for the late reply... It's been so long since I've been on here, I have to "re-learn" how to do things...

Anyway... Vegas? Probably not...but I'm hoping to go back to Kentucky (didn't make it there in 2010) and go to the Baltimore race (I HATE street racing, but it's relatively close, so we'll see).

NASCAR is reaping the fruit of it's overbearing hype and contrived "competition". They way overbuilt their seating capacity at most of their tracks.  At some of the smaller tracks the stands are so high you get a nose bleed sitting in them. (/sarc). Give me the kind of competition we had when King Richard and the Alabama boys ruled the roost!

That would be me. I got disgruntled years ago when the south started to raided for dates. Doing away with the Southern 500 was the last straw.

Yeah...I'm sure Dario feels real good about his choice now... Like you said it'll take time for IndyCar racing to come back, but it's on the upswing now. Hopefully Sam, AJ and Dario won't get too fat before they try to come back...
And about hype...whatever hype and build-up INDY gets, it has EARNED after almost 100 years of existence (if it wasn't for the two world wars, this would be the 98th Indy 500, not the 92nd). Too bad networks like the SPEED Channel don't agree...

the hype surrounding NASCAR is amazing. the product don't match the hype given. indycar will come back, give it 5 years there will be enough media hype to make people like sam hornish and aj feel they made a bad choice.
