Confidence Picks

We did this on the old IndycarNation forums.

Here's how you play the game: For example the upcoming St. Pete race there are 25 cars. The car you have the most confidence in winning you would assign 25 points, the next car you have the most confidence in you would assign 24 points all the way down to 1 point for the car you have the least confidence in. Example 25-#9, 24-#6, 23-#12.....1-#18.

Here's the catch- Say you pick the #12 car to finish 1st and he finishes 5th you lose 4 points for the pick. 1 point for each position you were wrong. So you would get 21 points. If a driver you picked finishes higher then what you picked them you only get the points you assigned.

Example-You asigned car #19 5 points but he finishes in 10th which in this example would be worth 16 points, you only get the 5 points because you didn't have the confidence to pick him any higher.

Picks must be put in before the start of the race. NO Exceptions!!! You can forward your picks to someone else and they can post them for you but if they are not up before the start of the race then you are out of luck.

I will add up each participants points total and post them here usually on the Monday following the race.

We will use the Indycar Points system, so if you win a week you will recieve 50 pts, 2nd gets 40. Ties will the same number of points. if 2 or more people tie for 2nd they will both get 40 pts. The next highest total will recieve 35 points for 3rd.

I hope everyone gets this. There are a few on here that played this game last year. if you are confused wait until they post their picks so you can get the hang of it.

Hi, all! Nope, did not fall off the face of the Earth, was not riding shotgun with Little Al and did not get run over on Kentucky's pit lane. Ive just been incredibly busy with part-time and full-time work obligations. Totally forgot to do my picks for Motegi and ran out of time for Kentucky picks last week. You're welcome, GLC and 1995! (wink). Though I'm now quite a few laps down, like a true competitor, I will strap the helmet back on and head back out with Vegas picks to see what points I can salvage!

No prob. sorry for the delay. I heard the Indycar website got hacked. People with antivirus software on their computers said it was going nuts and ended up leading them to a celebrity porn site. I had to figure out where to get results from since I don't trust the Indycar site right now. Had to go to Speedtv.com to get the results.

Wow, what a toss up this one is! With the starting grid and the fact that it's going to be a pack race with all those cars, who knows? A sad way to end the year indeed. Las Vegas picks will not count since less than half the race was run. I hadn't totaled up the Kentucky points but with only 2 people making picks it doesn't really matter.

Final Standings are:

1st- 1995

2nd- GLC

3rd- RR

4th- IG

I had a lot of fun with this, despite missing a coupler of late-season picks. Really a shame everything with the season finale had to end on a tragic note. I hope we can do it again next year. Thanks, Aces.
