My favorite Indy 500 memory

I actually have two memories that stand out. My first one was pole day 1968 when my father took me for my first visit to IMS. It was love at first sight and that has never changed. Granatelli's wedge shaped turbines were the big news and being a seven year old racing nut, I was hooked. My other moment was to finally pay back my Dad for all the trips to Pole Day and buying him a ticket to see his first Indy 500 in 1990. "I appreciate the talent it takes to do well in all the different tracks on the schedule. But I do miss not seeing Michigan, California, Milwaukee, and Nashville. But the street courses make it more a weekend event and draws better. Also what hurts…"
