Exactly! Maybe he can have Valerie Bertinelli, Kirstie Alley and Marie Osmond as guests in his pit.

I can see it now: "Hi, I'm Tony Stewart. I'm known as a chubby NASCAR Sprint Cup driver...but I'm planning to go for the big bucks in  a special race at Las Vegas in an Indy Car later this year, if I can slim down enough to…

There should be a special 'big and tall man's' chassis. You would think Jenny Craig or Slimfast would be interested in sponsoring some of these fat bastards. :)

Good one Iowa guy. That's the real reason Stewart and Montoya don't run Indy. There isn't a shoehorn big enough to wedge them into a cockpit.

And when you do, ask her how she plans to fit into the Indy Car cockpit this year....

Excellent.  She is my neighbor here in Phx.  I'll forward the photo to her. I suppose she will be busy at Bristol today, though. Hope she can catch a few "Lucky Dogs" on Saturday.

Sorry I've been slow getting back to you... About the truck...it's a '65 GMC. My dad has had a '66 Chevy Carryall (what came before the Suburban) since before I was born, so it figured that I'd end up getting one of them eventually. It started as a work truck and then I parked it in the fall of '96 to rebuild it over the winter. It next saw the road in the fall of 2001...but has a rollcage, 358 Chevy engine (350 bored .040 over...my dad's the engine man and has all the specs), disc brakes all around, 22 gallon fuel cell, etc... I never raced it but more or less built it for "practice"... =)

With the war wagon... I HAD been toying with the idea of building one that would have a barbecue grill, fold-out picnic table and everything you need for a cookout...including an on-board cooler and captain's chairs to mount on top...if you could sneak it in the track...
I do weld aluminum (not as much as steel of course) and could easily make a lighter version of that one. Part of why that original one is so heavy is because of all the equipment on it. Of course that one wasn't built all in one shot. I started on it in '94 and then it sat for about a year, was moved from one building to another and another, then added more to it the next few years before '99 when I pretty much cut it up and made it into what you see in the photo. If you do it all at one time you can definitely wind up with something lighter...
Just WHY would you need a cooler that big by the way? =D

Yeah that NASCAR snail video was on myspace and I couldn't let it go to waste so I put it on here, too... As for the picture that's a pit cart or war wagon... It's part of my business and has pretty much everything to do almost any welding job -- TIG/stick welder, MIG welder, oxyacetylene welder, power tools, hand tools...it even has a little TV set on it (I haven't figured out how to get a stereo in it yet but give me time). It weighs about a ton or more so it would have to take a real good paying job to get me to haul it to a job site. And I never have dragged it into the pits at the local track. It would be great advertising, but racers on this end of the country can be dirt cheap when it comes to things like repairs...trust me...
