TBA is right, if you want to know why the stands were so vacant, ask SMI and the SF residents. Mid-Ohio was packed, as were most of the other street and road courses. Sonoma this year, which typically is a snoozer, was pretty decent this year. St. P…

What he said ^^^ Mid-Ohio was jam packed, and was a fantastic event.

Versus is locked into some pretty fierce and hardball negotiations right now. They are likely asking more for a carriage fee now that they have some bigger sports products in their lineup, including IndyCar, but the sat companies aren't wanting to p…

I would love to see JR in an IndyCar next year. As a driver, he's more than ready, but it takes more that driving talent these days to secure a ride. Time for the young Mr. Hildebrand to start working on his business skills and his salesmanship. You…

The first half of the race was fantastic! Wilson taking Briscoe in the Carousel, Milka being a blocker, Conway being Conway, and Tracy showing mas skillz and executing an excellent pass on Viso in Turn 4 made for very exciting viewing. Dixon certain…

Joe replied to xorpheous's discussion 'Panning Technique' in the group Shutterbugs
Some nice shots X. Bikes have got to be tough to shoot. How close were you for these shots? I find that it's usually easier to pan when I can get closer to the action and go with a shorter focal length, somewhere around 70mm is nice if you can get c…

Regenerative Shocks

We've all heard of regenerative braking, but there's been a technology lurking about that could both aid a car's handling characteristics while recovering energy at the same time: the Power-Generating Shock Absorber. Recent news articles, like this oneContinue

2008 SCCA Runoffs

Heartland Park Topeka

I know the Runoffs happened two months ago, but this has been a very busy semester so please forgive the tardiness of this post. The 2008 SCCA Runoffs were held for the third, and last, time at HeartlanContinue

2008 RedBull Indy GP - Race Day!

Fans in their rain gear

We watched the weather report on Sunday morning with great interest. On Saturday, the prediction had been for increasing clouds and thunderstorms, some heavy, through out the afternoon. They couldn't have been more wrong as Saturday was hot and sunny all day. So when we saw… Continue

2008 RedBull Indy GP - Saturday

Saturday started out slightly overcast, but rapidly became sunny and hot. With all the rain from Friday, it also became incredibly humid! We did run into the strangest sight of the weekend, two cars parked next to each other from completely opposite sides of the automotive design spectrum. We couldn't help but laugh at the scene.… Continue

2008 RedBull Indy GP - Friday

In a word. Ick. Here I refer to the weather, not the on-track action which was amazing. I never did make it to a Formula One race when the the USGP was at IMS, so this was my first time seeing the Speedway in its road course configuration. Looking at the track, the flow of the curves, and the transitions from inf… Continue

I'm planning on chatting during practice, quals and the race. There were some issues with the old chat feature that were out of my hands, I think this will provide the best of both worlds - a public message board and a private message feature.

Doug, FYI, Reggie, who posts on Indy Car Garage, has started a Ning site similar to ICG, dedicated exclusively to Danica. If you are of a mind, come on over and join us. Jim

Not at all, in fact that would be much appreciated. I looked at your page and notice you're at KU. Kansas is just about my favorite state. I think the Flint Hills area, including the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, has some of the most beautiful scenery in the US. My favorite place is Strong City. Oh, and I like Kansas Speedway too!

Glad you like it! That picture was taken in Iowa, one of several tornadoes we saw that day. I don't know how "professional" we are, but we do forecast and chase storms for a living: http://www.twistersisters.com. My undergraduate degree was in Biochemistry but I went to graduate school for Meteorology. Check out our website, there are some pretty cool storms on there :-).

I'm all for anything and everything made in USA, so I would be very happy with this company building the next car. I would love to see not only more engines in the series, but engines made in USA. I have my fingers crossed. Now, can we get more Amer…
